چکیده

Abstract The use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can significantly improve the downlink bit error rate (BER) performances of DSand MC-CDMA in a frequency-selective fading channel. However, the uplink BER performance degrades due to strong multi-user interference (MUI) since different users’ signals go through different channels and hence the orthogonality among users is distorted. We have proposed joint orthogonal frequency-interleaving and MMSE-FDE to DSand MC-CDMA. In this paper, the conditional BER is derived for the given set of channel gains. The average BER performance is numerically evaluated using the derived conditional BER and is confirmed by computer simulation. Multi-carrier multi-access using frequency-interleaving and its uplink BER performance

Abstract In direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and multi-carrier (MC)-CDMA, frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can be applied to exploit the channel frequency-selectivity and to improve bit error rate (BER) performance. In MC-CDMA uplink, however, the BER performance significantly degrades due to strong multi-user interfe...

2-Dimensional OVSF Spread/Chip-Interleaved CDMA

Multiple-access interference (MAI) limits the bit error rate (BER) performance of CDMA uplink transmission. In this paper, we propose a generalized chip-interleaved CDMA with 2-dimensional (2D) spreading using orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) codes to minimize the MAI effects and achieve the maximum available timeand frequency-domain diversity gains. We present the code assignment fo...

Frequency-Domain Pre-Equalization for MC-CDMA/TDD Uplink and Its Bit Error Rate Analysis

In multi-carrier code division multiple access (MCCDMA) uplink (mobile-to-base station), since different users’ signals go through different frequency-selective fading channels, large multi-access interference (MAI) is produced. The use of frequency-domain equalization reception can only partially restore the orthogonality among different users’ signals, resulting in a severe degradation in the...

Frequency-Domain Multi-Stage Soft Interference Cancellation for DS-CDMA Uplink Signal Transmission

It is well-known that, in DS-CDMA downlink signal transmission, frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can replace rake combining to achieve much improved bit error rate (BER) performance in severe frequencyselective fading channel. However, in uplink signal transmission, as each user’s signal goes through a different channel, a severe multi-user...
